January 20, 2018 Fundraiser

Due to the weather and conditions at our event location, we have postponed the
Cocktail Party Fundraiser to January 20th.

It will still be 7-10 at Blake Farm, Gretchen and Randy Richie will be performing some jazz for us, and we will still have many delicious hors d'oevres from local produce and a silent auction with lovely items, and several local speakers. I hope you can make it!

If you are unable to attend, please consider sponsoring the event with a donation of $100. If that is not something within your budget at this time, please consider a monthly donation of $10 to the campaign. Every bit helps the campaign do the work we need to do and get the word out!

Tickets may still be purchased online or checks may be made out to Friends of Julia Nichols and sent to:

Anne Marie Dailey, Treasurer,

23350 Sugarbush Street

California, MD 20619

(Please include occupation and employer on the check as required by Maryland law)

Feel free to forward this to others who might be interested in attending or contributing! Thank you for your support!!

Julia Nichols Addresses Calvert Citizens for a Healthy Community

Julia Nichols

Enjoying the opportunity to reach out to Calvert Environmentalists on Tuesday, Julia Nichols addressed Calvert Citizens for a Healthy Community.

Julia spoke about her concerns over the environmental issues in Calvert County, especially relating to the LNG plant in Cove Point which sits in the northern portion of District 29c in Calvert County. Julia expressed concern that that a quantitative risk assessment has not taken place for their current activities, and their plans to dump waste water into the creeks. While Dominion is here to stay, Julia believes that we can work to alleviate pollution that they generate. People should be able to feel comfortable that air and water quality is being monitored and remains safe.

Another issue Julia raised seems especially important now, in the wake of Hurricane Harvey and what happened in Houston. Julia believes we need to review disaster preparedness and evacuation plans for the area – what could happen if we experience a disaster such as what happened in Houston, with Dominion and the Nuclear Power Plant here – and a bridge that cannot accommodate evacuation traffic?

Julia Nichols

As Delegate for District 29c, Julia Nichols will work to address these concerns, as well as the concerns that were brought up by the CCHC members and others during the question and answer portion of the meeting. Julia is committed to listening to the citizens of her district and working together in Annapolis with other lawmakers to find feasible solutions. If you would like to talk to Julia about environmentalism or other issues which are important to you, get in touch with us today!

Julia Nichols Speaks at the Asbury

The Riverside Club was kind enough to host Julia Nichols at the Asbury Solomons. There was great turn out, so Julia got to hear from a good number of Asbury residents, as well as others in the community. After giving some brief remarks, Julia was so pleased to go around the room and speak with small groups about their concerns for the Asbury and for District 29c.

If you would like to host a small gathering to get to know Julia, or to familiarize her with your priorities for District 29c, Contact Us today!
